Heeeeeey, Dennis didn't have to work on his birthday!

I want my birthday to be a legal holiday! Happy Labor day, I mean Happy Birthday, Dennis!

Dennis had a great birthday, led in by a "work day" at the Sandbar at Kaneohe, a class, and a family day...his weekend started eeeeaaaarrly! I think the last time he was at work was Wednesday morning. He's getting quite a tan.

We spent the day with friends, playing ladderball games and eating yummy food. I made 2 cheesecakes, black bottom cherry and green mint, instead of birthday cake since he loves cheesecake. Yummy! but oh, so rich...

He received lots of birthday wishes, got to talk to family, and even wore a hawaiian shirt...yes, he looked like a retired vacationer. I think he's fitting in nicely!

Dennis is such a good dad and a hard worker...many may not see his fun, goofy side...yes, he does smile. Especially with flowers in his hair...

...and if you need a fourth to make up a rock band...HE'S THERE!

...and, while he doesn't get a lot of free time, he likes to try new things...especially outdoors, like snorkeling and hiking.

So, here's to your long birthday weekend, hope you felt special and loved... because you ARE!! Kisses!

Is bigger really better?

Why is it that men think the biggest toys are always the best? Our 10 year old TV in Germany was 27". It was a monster of a square box. So, we sold it before we left, figured we'd save on weight and upgrade when we got here.

So, MY idea of upgrade? 37-40"

Dennis's idea of upgrade? 52" plus

REALLY!?!

I understand the appeal of watching an action flick in surround sound on a big screen...isn't that what the movie theater is for? I really don't need a wall of What Not to Wear or Clean House. (My two favorite shows)

So, marriage is all about compromise...ours is 46"...the widest our tv stand will accommodate...(I know, I know, Dennis, yes, it WILL take more weight...but the width IS maxed out.)

I still think it's a little overwhelming. But, the boys have to have new toys every now and then. Gotta love 'em.

Dad, where are you?

My friend, Leslie's husband is deployed in an Air Force band. She gets all these cool pictures of him rocking out for the troops. Dennis is in a band, too...

He had the opportunity (ha, ha...dragged into it) to be in a talent show as one of his all-time favorite bands, KISS. They took 3rd place. That's him rockin' the drums...

He also sent this picture.

I think he's been gone too long...I showed it to Hayden...said "Hey look at your dad." He pointed to the guy in the front in the blue shirt. No....Ok, how about the red shirt? Noooooo. Try again. Better get home soon, your son's forgotten what you look like already.
